how long is hospital stay

I was wondering generally how long is the stay in the hospital for? Im having a vaginal laporscopic hysterectomy both ovaries removed. I thought my doctor said 1 day but it seems like some people say 3 or 4 days. Thanks for any help

I had my surg on Tues January 9, 2007 at 12:00, and was discharged Thurs January 11, 2007 before 9:00 am. Hope you have a speedy and uneventful surg/ recovery!!!

i had an lsh and spent 48 hours in the hospital. i was very happy to be resting for those two days. good luck with your surgery!

I had my lavh at 12:00 on a Thursday, and was out Sat, early afternoon. Would have probably been able to leave Fri., but had a minor complication with my bladder, so dr wanted to be cautious and keep the catheter in longer. At 3 weeks post, I'm feeling pretty good, and will return to work full time on April 9. Good luck and please know that we are all wishing you a speedy recovery!

I had a LAVH/BSO at 7:00 am Monday morning and was discharged at around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon.

I had a TVH on 1-16-7 at 7:30 am and was home the next day by 2 pm.

I had a TLH at 11am and left about 10pm the same day. I could have stayed the night and was actually encouraged to stay. The hospital floor was short staffed and it was crazy. I just wanted to come home.

I was scheduled for a LSH and was disappointed when Dr wanted me to stay even 1 night (I thought I coul go home that night). I ended up with an abdominal so I stayed 2 nights (was 7 something the 1st night when I got to the home so I was there really less than 2 days). I was told if I felt I needed to stay I could stay another day due to blood loss but really, I just wanted to get home. Looking back, it was the right decision, I would have been very restless if I had stayed another night.

Everyone's different though. I think it all depends what you are having done, how your body reacts to everything, and some Drs require a BM prior to release (mine required x amount of urine and a fart).
