Two weeks post hysterectomy: ovaries still working??
Hey there! I'm a little over 2 weeks in recovery. It's all going normal I think..until yesterday. I had uterus, fallopian tubes & my cervix removed. Still have my ovaries, but the last few days I've been experiencing sharp, period, cramp like pains & then wham!! I have been having a few ( about 3 a night, so far) hot flashes & I'm extremely moody & weepy...& i dont want to be, I just am. These hot flashes suck! And I'm really confused about why I'm having it. I've been told that our ovaries can shut down or hibernate, if so, do they start to work again, with time? I'm only 30 & I'm not ready to tackle anything else right now. I've dealt with hypermesis gravidarum with my two babies & two years of cervical cancer scares & now this hysterectomy, which I've been pretty positive about, but now I'm just hurting & confused. Also, my legs & feet want to cramp up so bad, why is that happening?! They just twitch all day & i can feel a cramp coming on. Any thoughts or advice would be nice! Drop your knowledge on me! My doctor is out till Monday when I have my 2 week check up. Thanks ladies!

You are correct, this is normal. I kept my ovaries and had really bad hot flashes for about a week, then they just disappeared. I think it's your body just trying to readjust to everything. I wouldn't worry about it, your ovaries will kick back in soon.
