End of week 6 and I am taking another off... am I being a wuss?

No you are not being a wuss. I went for my post op at 7 weeks and my doc said he wanted me to take a full 12 weeks off he said 6 weeks is no where near enough. Plus I still have 75% of my stitches still intact he said I am just a slow healer. So take the time if you can and enjoy it!

You have all helped so much. It seems so common sense when I advise others to take it easy... sometimes it's hard to realize that it goes for yourself too!

i say listen to your body and also discuss it with your doc
i was not feeling good at my 8 week post op
and asked for an extention (i had a second op 2 wks after my hyst) my doctor gave me 2 more weeks
i at first thought i was being a baby but i did not start feeling better til last week
i started back to work last wed 1/2 days today was my first full time day back i now know i did the right thing and am very glad
even some of my family members were "when are you going to go back to work??"
i also read here that this is YOUR time TO HEAL so use it
and take care of yourself and your body!!

I had a LAVH and my doctor wrote me out for 8 weeks. I probably don't need the whole time but I thought I would use the time to get rested up. I know work is going to be crazy when I get back because they are doing mandatory overtime right now. So I would go back from 0 hours to working overtime. To me that is like going from 0 mph to 70 mph in 10 secs.

Take time and rest if you can afford it.
