Swelling - How Long Until It Goes Down

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy with bladder sling on October 29th. How long until the swelling in my lower abdomen will go back to normal?

Hi.I had my TAH on the 18th of oct and had very little swelling the first two weeks, almost so I can say my belly was flat compared to now. it looks like I have gained weight in my lower abdomen, but I have lost weight....I have read that the swelling can last for months for some gals, but I hope thats not the case, because no trousers can fit me, and my loose fit underwear leaves red marks on my belly from all the swelling, so I hope for relief soon....At least I can say I know what you are going trough <3 I cant even see my incision without a mirror because of all the swelling

My TAH was at the end of June and even still the lower part of my belly is "puffed" out.... Very frustrating as I've been working out and the top part of my abdomen has shrunken and is getting definition yet the bottom half is still all 'there'

I did not gain any weight but I sure had the swell belly. Mine was there for 5 months so I had to get new clothes for a while. It didn't hurt but it sure took a long time to go away. It is inflammation from healing so it depends on the person. Best wishes to you.

You will note some improvement around week 6 to 8... In my case the swelling returned by night time for up to 4-5 months, it would be worst on the busy days.

I also had to do some shopping, the stetchy pants that fold on the waist adapted well to my changing tummy.

It has been six months since my surgery, and I only seem to get swelling once a month.

had my op 5 months ago..had a very big tum because of a large fibroid..had swelly belly for months..its starting to look less so now..still a bit bulgy but nothing like it used to look..hang in there!
