Tentative Date for me

Hi,

I finally got to the gyn/surgeon that was suggested to me, and he examined me. I almost came up off of the exam table when he pressed around my uterus, etc.

He looked at my previous lap surgery reports, talked to me about the heavy bleeding and bad periods, my migraines, backaches, etc. and agreed that it was time for the pain to stop.

Since I am not going to have children--I'm fine with that--I told him I wanted the full hysterectomy if warranted. He agreed.

So, I haven't talked to his scheduler, but we set a tentative date for the first week in December. He said he's going to remove everything but the cervix, via Laparscopic surgery. He hopes to do it vaginally, but because of certain considerations in my case, he may not be able to do it. He said he won't know until he goes in.

We discussed HRT, and he does all natural HRT, etc. I'm to see him two more times before surgery, and I will need help in knowing what questions to ask. I've had two laparscopic surgeries and bounced back rather easily. This time, however, removing my uterus and ovaries, etc. will be much more intensive than previous laps.

What do I need to be asking? I'm sure there might already be FAQs concerning those issues. I'm concerned about whether my body is going to rocket right into menopause, or what I'm going to be in for. He indicated that every woman is different and that during my recovery phase, he'd monitor my condition as to what I would need if I had severe hot flashes, etc. Then, after initial recovery, he'd tailor an HRT program to fit me, personally, with an all natural approach.

A friend of mine just had surgery with this guy and she said he is wonderful. He seems to be, and he was trained by my previous surgeon, who isn't practicing anymore. All I know is that I want my life back and I want the monthly pain to stop.

I haven't been able to hold down a full time job in a couple of years, because of it.

Please forgive me, in advance, if I am asking repeat questions here, and guide me on where I need to go for answers that have already been given repeatedly for my questions, if needed.

I'm anticipating my surgery, but sort of afraid too. I don't fear the surgery, itself, but waking up vomiting, as I did with the previous surgeries.

I want to thank all of you for this website. I had been procrastinating on what to do about my health situation, and this website made me realize I needed to do something.

Thank You!
