staples

How long do the staples stay in? I have had 3 csections but the last one was 17 yrs ago and this will be a verticle incision as opposed to the bikini cut I had for c sections

Re: staples

I had a vertical incision and was told to have my staples replaced with Steri-strips have 13 days. The nurse at the local clinic who did this was surprised, because apparently that clinic usually removes staples after one week! I suspect that my surgeon, knowing I don't drive, wanted to give me some extra time to heal enough to make the walk to the clinic.

The staples weren't a major problem, except for being itchy and for catching in things once I lost the water weight from the hospital.

Re: staples

I didn't have any staples or external sutures. Was very surprised to just have a thin incision. Not sure why some do it that way and others use staples.

Re: staples

I had vertical incision and staples. The staples come out about a week after the surgery. Mine were taken out on day 7 but only because I couldn't get an appt with my doc for day 9. I think my doc prefers to take them out around day 10. But I was ok. I did get a surface infection, I just kept that area clean, and it healed.

Re: staples

I had a bikini incision with 24 staples. Surgery on Wednesday staples out the following Tuesday. Seemed too soon to me but all was well.

Re: staples

I had a bikini line incision - half of the staples were removed 5 days post op, the rest on day 7.
I had some steristrips applied to one side of the wound that came apart a little when the staples came out - healed beautifully in the end though
