New here....

Hello. Just joined the site. I am not scheduled yet for a hysterectomy. I just want to be completely informed when going in. In fact it could even be late next year before it is done. My history (sorry if this is long ) I am 34 with a 22 year history of diabetes. I had ovarian cysts during my teens and early twenties. And had laser surgery on my cervix at 20 for mild cervical dysplasia. After two high risk pregnancies I had my tubes tied during my last c-section. The last section was in June of this year. I developed severe abdominal pain and pain with sex so my ob wanted to do a lap to check things out. I had it two weeks ago. I had a large incisional hernia from the section and several small hernias, all repaired. I also had a lot of scar tissue removed especially on my intestines. She said I had a lot of scar tissue on my bladder but she didn't remove it as that is not "her area" She informed me (i was waiting for this) that most likely I would end up with a hysterectomy and bladder repair done at the same time. And that it would have to be an open procedure not a lap procedure because of the amount of scar tissue remaining and also my cervix is very high and hard to find. She did say that she would leave my ovaries. Anyway, I don't really have any questions just wanted to introduce myself. My cousin told me about this site it was very useful for her when she had her hyst.

Thanks

Coral

Hi Coral,

(What a beautiful name!!!)

Welcome to Hyster Sisters.

You've come to the right place for lots of great information to help you prepare for surgery. If you haven't already, check out the drop down menus on the main homepage. (Click the Princess logo at the top of this page to access the homepage.) You'll find good, practical tips on everything from what to take to the hospital to questions to ask your doctor.

And remember, you are not in this alone. We're here for you whenever you need us. (Even at 4 a.m.! That's when the Australian ladies are online!) Feel free to post any questions or concerns you may have.

Best wishes and lots of s,

Lisa

Hi Coral,

Welcome to Hyster Sisters!!

Although I'm very sorry that you may be facing surgery in the future, I am glad that you found us and posted to introduce yourself.

Shashi has already mentioned the drop-down menus, so I'll just add that you might want to visit our chat room, where you'll be able to talk "real time" with others.

I'm glad your cousin referred you to us, and hope that she has had a good recovery from her hyst.

's

Karen
