feelings about tvh

All those emotions are so very normal and expected. When I was told I needed a TAH, I was a total mess. I cried anywhere and everywhere. My husband kept telling me everything would be just fine. (How did HE know? He acted like I was having a root canal.)

When I would finally get my emotions under control, I'd start to cry again. Then one day, I turned all my worries and fears over to God and laid it all at His feet. A peace came over me that was unbelievable. (Now I'm not saying that I didn't worry any more or have alot of anxiety about the surgery, but I felt much better.)

The surgery was done 7/11/06, and I'm feeling pretty darned good. Oh, I have a slight infection in my vertical incision, but antibiotics and warm soaks should help that problem. I never imagined I'd feel this good 10 days out. Now it drives me half nuts to see my house not in the shape I usually keep it. My daughter and daughter-in-law are helping out so much, but it's hard not to just take the duster and do it myself. It's been so darned hot around here that I stay indoors almost all day, and I'm usually taking walks with my dog every day. My husband gives me heck for not taking it easy ... he blames my infection on the fact that I'm bending over to pick stuff up and all. So after your surgery, please take care, don't overdo, drink lots of water and take stool softeners!!!

Please know that we're thinking of you and saying prayers for you.

Take care,

Sheri

Just ask

There are many of us who would be more than willing to answer questions from our experience. You can send private messages even if you can't post on the post-op site yet.
I have a TVH and A&P repair 3.5 weeks ago and am doing very well. The first week was tough and after that I've just been getting progressively stronger and feeling better. I've gone to work a few hours each day this week and am doing OK.
So, just ask
