2 weeks post hysterectomy - scar reduction

Hello ladies! I had my total hysterectomy and one remaining ovary removed on 3/1. The internet has been having trouble where I'm staying so I finally logged in from my phone. Although, I've been sleeping so much it has hardly mattered!! I had my first post op today and doctor told me to try a silicon strip from scar away. I had the robotic surgery, have 4 scars, 2 on either side of my belly button. Right now they still have glue on them so it's hard to tell if they're raised or its just the glue. Have any of you tried these silicon strips after prior surgery or are you using them now? I was just going to use vitamin e, but read a lot of good reviews on Amazon about the silicon strips.
Thank you for any advice!

Re: scar reduction

Hello

My physical therapist gave me some of the silicon strips. He also gave me a scar tissue massage tool to target deeper scar tissue (I just searched and found a similar one for $10 on Amazon).

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Re: scar reduction

I love the silicon strips! I have used them on most of my scars (and I have quite a few). I had a LAVH. My right incision is nearly invisible. I have to really look for it to find it. The left is still visible after 3 years, but it was a bigger cut. However, it is light pink and flat. I used them on my back surgery scars which are each about 6 inches long. They are also flat and pink, not raised an purple like previous scars were before silicon. You can cut the strips to fit the area, and they can be re-used. I have tried the creams, but for me, silicon is the best.

Re: scar reduction

Mederma is what I would suggest for any scars. That stuff is amazing.
