15 months post hysterectomy: yeast infections

I am about 15 months post op and I keep getting yeast infections!!! I'm allergic to Diflucan and my Dr keeps prescribing Nizoral and a cream ( I cant remember what its called). It goes away ( or at least seems too and comes right back. My surgeon said he couldn't help any more so I switched drs. The new Dr has even tried Genetian Violet & Boric acid suppositories (nasty) and it still came back. I can't swim, have sex or (sorry tmi) use my vibrator!!! We have treated my hubs. I have cut out soda and cut way back on sweets and stuff and I'm even eating yogurt and taking probiotic!!! I'm wondering about going to an internal Dr!!! I'm at toyed end of my rope. Ill be 36 next week and I refuse to live the rest of my life this way!!! Thoughts? Ideas?

Re: Somebody please help me!!!

I went through a period in my life where I had constant yeast infections. It was when I was married to my now ex husband. Since we've been apart I now only get them very rarely, maybe once every few years. We have a very delicate Ph balance below and anything such as soaps, laundry detergent or hormonal imbalance can throw this off. Hopefully this is only temporary for you. The yogurt is good and acidophilus capsules can help too. Do some research online about chronic yeast infections. Maybe your doctor can check your hormone levels to see if that is the problem. I wish I had an answer for you, I understand how uncomfortable and unpleasant it is living like that. I hope it improves for you soon.

Re: Somebody please help me!!!

This is what worked for me:
I went to the local (good with knowledgeable sales staff) health food store and got a "yeast cleanse" bottle of capsules. There are many name brands. The active ingredients are pau d'arco and garlic. Most have garlic, but not pau d'arco. It runs anywhere from $15-$23 per bottle. If it is food based, you end up taking a couple of capsules 2 or 3 times per day. You have to cut out/eliminate all refined sugar in your diet (also very good to cut out artificial sweeteners) No bread, soda, cakes, cookies, or ANYTHING with a high glycemic index I.e., fruits like watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew (Google the list). Stay hydrated (# of oz of water Per day minimum= your weight in lbs ÷ 2). I took it along with daily dose of olive leaf extract (supplement that is in a capsule) that has antibiotic properties. I took the whole bottle which lasted a month.
I get yeast infections when I eat yogurt. The popular ones usually have alot of sugar. The ones that don't (whole and organic) are too tart. So, I'm not convinced that yogurt is effective against yeast infections. Probiotics are great...but have you tried Udo's in the refrigerated section? (Also not cheap, but very good.)
I did this for a month, but I got results in 2-3 days. I also used externally vag cream just to stop incessant itching at first. Then I dusted with the powder from inside one of the probiotic capsules. After a couple of days, I didn't need to treat skin.
I have heard of others taking "oil of oregano" daily...but I heard that it is super potent and I didn't know if that would be right for me. THE KEY IS YOUR DIET.
I absolutely loathe yeast infections...but if it is internal, then it is systemic...Diflucan made me feel ill...and you can only take it rarely. Take away what the little yeast needs to live..most physicians are great at what they do, but many are not educated in nutrition. Good luck in finding a solution that is best for you!
