Re: Bowel prep questions (prep is in process)

What bowel prep are you doing? I'm doing the 10oz of Mag Citrate and clears... *sigh* I am sooooo distended and crampy, but only going a little. No urges, but something wicked is brewing inside-- I'm at the 3 hr mark! I'm so tired and could use a nap, but too afraid I wont wake up when "it" happens

Gatorade and miralax, with four pills of a laxative I have already forgotten three hours before starting the liquid mixture. Liquid diet since noon, NPO at 430 am.

I did fin dsomething helpful on another site. For this prep, they recommend some strong tasting. Drink or gum after some of the mixture, which has helped a LOT.

Re: Bowel prep questions (prep is in process)

I was given sodium picosulfate (picoprep) - 2 large glasses - and it took 3 hours from the first mouthful to kick in - but boy was it a relief when it did!!

Best wishes for the castle, ladies

Re: Bowel prep questions (prep is in process)

Rena - similar, but not necessarily the same - it all depends on your different doctors! My gastroenterologist makes me use ColonLytely, which is the vilest, most revolting thing I've ever had, and I have to drink 3 litres of it! ... But my gyn/onc only wanted me to "clean out the bulk" so I had Picoprep, which was better tasting, much less of it (only half a litre), and seemed faster and gentler. So you'll need to check with your surgeon.

Oh - and some gyn surgeons don't require a bowel prep at all.

Good luck!

Re: Bowel prep questions (prep is in process)

Good luck, Ladies! Hope it all works out in the end (no pun intended). LOL (Okay, so pun definately intended).

I wish I could offer sage words of advice, but not having been there/done that/got the t-shirt, I can only offer moral support, and maybe a laugh or too. (That's sure to get things moving, right?)

Seriously - prayers for a quick and uneventful surgery and recovery.
