Pain inside vagina?

I had my abdominal hysterectomy with pelvic prolapse surgery 4 weeks ago today. My incision is feeling alot better, but inside my vagina really hurts. I had my husband look inside to see if he saw anything out of the ordinary, LOL, and he just said, WOW, I see lots and lots of stitches. HMMMM, I figured the stitches would all be dissolved by now. I am beginning to wonder if I will even be able to have sex at 6 weeks. I thought my doctor said 6 weeks anyway. I could be wrong? I can't even sit directly on my butt because it hurts my vagina. I also feel this pressure down there, like a heaviness. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought I would be feeling alot better than I do at 4 weeks. Thanks, Tracy

I had the prolapse surgery and thought that I would be feeling better by now also. I guess it just takes a long time. I still feel like it's swelling. Every day is just a tiny bit better.

I think I felt worse at 3 & 4 weeks cause everything was healing and pulling about that time. I had lots of stitches "there" too.The bottom of my vagina hurt so bad I couldn't sit or walk without it pulling.I would use a squirt bottle and spray warm water on it to keep the dissolving stitches from irritating it so much.I am 10 weeks tomorrow and have not tried sex yet even though the Dr cleared me at 8 weeks.I told my DH that as long as I was tender, I wasn't doing anything.Its suppose to feel good for both of us so he wants to wait too.I guess we are both afraid of hurting me.

Have you been back to the doctor to get your concerns checked out? Turns out I had an infection that showed up on a culture. Also, my doc said that the stitches he used to repair the rectal prolapse-(the repairs are done through the vagina) that those stitches would take several months to heal.
I was given the go ahead for intercouse after 7 weeks. The six week guideline is a common one. But it is not set in stone, and only your doctor can tell you if that is right for you, and for how you are healing.
I don't think it should hurt that much right now-I would have the doc check it out, if anything for your own peace of mind.
