Hyster due to Adenomyosis

I have a Vaginal hyster scheduled for Dec 17 to remove my uterus and cervix. Keeping ovaries. Dr is also going to put my bladder, in a "sling", because I just about pee myself all the time. LOL. I am only 31 years old but have experienced much pain from the adeno plus massive bleeding through periods or just whenever. What is the abbreviated term for what I am having done? How long do you think my recovery will be if everything goes normal..? I am trying to come back to work half days starting Jan 3.

Hyster due to Adenomyosis

A vaginal hysterectomy with removal of the cervix is a Total Vaginal Hysterectomy or TVH. The sling they're doing might be the TVT (Tension-free Vaginal Tape).

I don't know what type of work you do, but 2.5 weeks isn't anywhere near long enough by most recommendations. It's usually 6-8 weeks. Better discuss this with your doctor. Also, as far as your employer goes - Hope for the best but plan for the worst. I'd ask off for the maximimum time allowed and then if you are able to go back early - great.

Good luck with your surgery

Dr actually said he thinks I can and that I can work fulltime starting Jan 10...He said 4 weeks for recovery and 6 for total...I guess the TVH is not as long recovery as other...I am young so hopefully I will get right back like he says....We shall see...
Anyone else who has had a TVH? How much pain is after...Does it feel like you just gave birth or not that bad...When I had my daughter she was 10# and got stuck...Dr really struggled to get her out, broke her collar bone...I had a little more soreness that you normal delivery I suppose...I am just wondering what to expect...Thanks for your posts...
