I've read about getting candy and such for the hospital staff to express appreciation during the stay. Have any of you gotten special gifts for your awesome spouse prior to heading to the "castle"? I've been a complete psycho lately - crying, whining, overreacting, etc. My husband has been so patient with me. I'd like to leave him a special gift on the day I head to the hospital. Did any of you do this? I'm looking for ideas.

Oh boy, do I understand. I was the same way before my hyst. How about making his all-time favorite meal, put heating directions on the outside package in a thank you card and freeze it.

Good luck with the surgery!

Getting a gift for your husband is a lovely idea! I've done that for my husband before, but with working so hard to get all my ducks in a row before this surgery, I totally forgot about getting something for him. My operation is on Monday, so I'll have to get him something special once I'm recovered.

I am planning to buy a tray of bagels for the staff the day after my operation. I was going to ask my husband if he would get it on his way in to see me.

No hobbies, Hanks. We're both that type A, work-a-holic type. I'll be released from the hospital (assuming all goes well) on a Saturday, and I was surprised when my husband said he planned to take that whole day off. LOL! He looked at me like I'd lost my mind when I said, "The whole day? Just to drive me home?" I think that's when it occured to me that this was kind of a big deal. Up until that point, my biggest concern was figuring out how my students would live without me! Hello! Reality check.

Maybe you could get some board or card games that you two could sit together and play when you get home.

Would he like assembling a model car ?
How about a dart board ?
Computer games ?
A new attachment for his riding lawnmower (if he has one) like a spreader or cultivator
Something new for his automobile (a bucket full of cleaning & waxing supplies)
A bird house kit so he can put it together
A new tree to plant in your yard
A Gameboy DS system w/a couple of games
A basket ball goal & ball
A new cap
A funky T-shirt
Some sexy underwear
I don't know....I'm running out of ideas

Hi sisters! Well, I only have 2 days to go, and I can't tell you how nervous I am. I keep thinking of calling up my doc, and cancelling the whole thing. Should I? No...but, it's a thought. I'm just so darn scared! (I know... normal) I had a question though, I've read in the posts something about "binders"? What the heck is that? Will I have to wear one? Also... I won't be able to come home in my jeans? oh no! Remember now girls... this is Bex... and I'm VERY new to this hysto thingy. Why am I having second thoughts all of a sudden?
