Bowel agony, distention, blood, diarrhoea..

Sisters please can you give me some advice.

I had full hysterectomy 22 years ago after endo was so severe I was bleeding from bowel and vagina for 3 weeks out of each month. I was 30. Life had been hell for 7 years and I had no kids and very reluctantly the decision was made. However I have to say having no periods and problems afterwards until now did improve my life considerably other than living with no kids.

Th e story above cuts what was a very long story short. Now aged 52 I have developed some very distressing bowel problems and I dont know if these are linked to above or not. Doctors seem baffled to be honest.

What started as a once every 6 month issue now has increased and I have a flare up approx twice a month. All is well then usually when I am out in oublic, suddenly I get the most intense pain in lower abdomen, a horrible heavy dragging feeling and my stomach distends to ridiculous proportions, its all I can do to make it to a toilet and recently I have collapsed before the loo or in the loo which is gross in itself, I clutch my stomach and just pray for release from the pain. What follows are spasms of the agony followed later by severe diarrhoea, always then followed some hours later by more spasms with red blood - or no diarrhoea as such later following day but just red blood pouring out

I can not pin down what is making this happen but its ruining my life, my confidence and I am really worried.

Doctors think it could be linked with endo with internal piles but I have insisted this is looked at again and have been referred to a gastro enterologist for more tests. I have just had blood tests done.

Is this endo flaring up again (I take hrt) or a completely separate issue? Does any one else have similar problems as I feel very alone right now.

Thank you. sally

Re: Bowel agony, distention, blood, diarrhoea..

This happens to my mother. She's never gotten more than irritable bowel and twisted colon as a diagnoses. I've gone pure blood years ago from food poisoning. I've also bled many many times from constipation n hemmorids. Nothing but blood. I know the pain well. I wish I had answers for you. I hope you see a doctor soon as possible and they treat you so you can heal. Big understanding hugs..

Re: Bowel agony, distention, blood, diarrhoea..

It is possible that a flare of endo could be causing your symptoms. Here is an article that may help: Is bowel endometriosis serious? I think it is very good that you are going to a gastroenterologist for testing. They may be able to detect endo in the bowel if there is any or possible find an entirely different issue that is causing your problems. You may also want to consult an Endometriosis Specialist. in there. that they are able to provide you with relief soon.
