Recurrent cystadenoma

In Sept 2016 I had my right ovary removed along with a 9cm x 7 cm mucinous cystadenoma and had an ablation for endometriosis

I was told at the time that it's not common for these to reoccur, however, at my last check up it was found I have another cyst on my left ovary that is even bigger and has a solid mass within it.

The recommendation was to recheck it in 3 months, with the caution given that it may need to be removed as well.

I am worried about the possibility of having to remove the other ovary and going into surgical menopause at 30 years old.

I do not tolerate birth control well at all. It makes me feel manic and emotionally all over the place.

However I have been having increasing pain and excessive bleeding. I'm not sure what is from the cyst and what is from the endometriosis.

Any similar experiences?

Re: Recurrent cystadenoma

Going into surgical menopause at this age is of a concern as it comes with a lot of risks. Having no ovaries and a uterus is also tricky. Are you considering having your uterus removed if you do have your second ovary removed? If you have no ovaries but still have a uterus, you will need to take cyclical hormones to keep the lining of your uterus from thickening which can create a risk for endometrial cancer. Did your doctor discuss this with you?

If you have any type of surgery, you'll also want them to look for and clean up any existing endo. As long as it exists, it can be a problem, regardless of which reproductive organs you do or do not have.

What type of doctor are you seeing? I would suggest a second opinion about your options because of all the long term implications. If possible, you might want to see an endometriosis specialist. A gynecological oncologist may be able to treat both the cyst and endometriosis, so that is an option I would consider, too.

We do have an Endometriosis Support forum where you can post all your endo questions. We also have a Separate Surgeries forum if you would like support regarding surgery to remove a cyst and/or ovary.

in there!
