Torch Time!

I am 29, having a TAH/RSO on 2/18 after having a LSO 12/18. Today I started the last that period I will ever have Y E A H
!!! I am so excited to be finished with them for good at the age of 29 that I wanted to do something special to mark the occassion! I decided once it is over with I will torch the remaining pads in the grill outside and make a toast with champagne to say goodbye to the old me! Of course I will save a pack for after surgery though, but I won't consider them menstrual pads but rather transition pads instead, hey whatever works huh!?

I told my husband about this and he said he felt left out. This morning he came to me grinning from ear to ear saying he wanted to add something to the pile to burn too. I didn't know what he could possibly be talking about until he pulled out the box of condoms from behind his back. I just burst out laughing because that never even occured to me, and here I thought this couldn't get any better!

Hi Jennifer,

Isn't it a great feeling to know you'll never have to deal with Aunt Flo again!! I think we all celebrate in some way (one lady I know had a Hysterectomy party!)

Just a suggestion, if you have a lot of leftover femine products, why not pass them on to someone who could use them, like a women's shelter? They're always in need of these types of items, and would be very appreciative. You could keep one to have the ceremonial torching, but let the others go to good use.

Anyway, enjoy your soon-to-be freedom. I know I'm enjoying mine!!

s,

Lisa

Go, Jennifer

You've got a good attitude. I think you'll do fine. I was 43 when I had TAH BSO and breezed through the whole experience.

See you on the other side.

Last Period Ever Torch Time!

I totally understand where you are coming from. I am 26 and scheduled for a TAH on 2/26. I just started my last period ever yesterday & even though I am cramping very bad, I am still overcome with excitement!!! I too cannot wait to get rid of the pads!!!!

My DH is excited too...I have such a hard time every month, and tend to take it out on everyone within striking distance.

Isn't life going to be so much better when all is said & done?

Last Period Ever Torch Time!

I am looking forward to no more periods - that is all I look forward to right now! I don't have a date yet - he assured me soon as possible!!! But the thought of what is coming again next week ( I've been flooding out every 3 weeks) Panics me!!!! 2 weeks I can walk around - 3rd I cannot hardly walk down the hall from the bathroom let alone leave the house! I use the KEEPER instead of the other sani stuff as I am so allergic to everything. Now what do I do afterward??? Ahhhhhh!!!!!!

I tell you I want to scream at the people who made that stupid film they showed us back in grade 5 "It's Wonderful Being a Woman." Yes it is, but not the bloody painful part!!!!

Go ahead and burn one pad in celebration, but if I had them - I'd give them to a Shelter also .

Hope all goes excellent for you! Take care for I care ~ Lion

Last Period Ever Torch Time!

Well, I took stock in what packages of pads I already have and for some reason I thought I had like four packages left but I only have two. So I guess my torching will have to be with just two pads left over from the package I am using now. Oh well...but I do have unopened boxes of condoms and I plan to take them to a shelter or clinic to see if they can use them. I didn't think it would be a good idea to breath in a bunch of latex burning so I would rather put them to good use. Thanks for the idea!

Bon-fire!

I had the same plan for a good old fire on the back yard grill for my left over pads!! I remember my best friend in high school backing to go away for the summer. She would pack a box of 10 tampons! She had 3 day periods!! Mine started when I was 10 and they were always HEAVY for 9 days!! MY surgery is 2/14 TAH/BSO and I can't wait!! Trilled to get in before my next period! I think I'm going to enjoy the empty space in the bathroom for awhile!! Someone said save pads for after surgery?

Newlife51,

Yes, we need to save pads for after surgery due to the bleeding/drainage we might have. That is why I am saving the last pack of pads for that very reason. What a Valentine's Day gift you are giving YOURSELF!!! I hope it all goes well and I will pray for a speedy recovery for you!

Geminidream620,

I know how you feel, I am nervous too. I had a LSO done in December and from what my obgyn told me, the TAH/RSO will feel the same way as the LSO did and if that is the case then it will be a PIECE OF CAKE no joke! I recovered so fast from that surgery I was shocked. I had a hard time standing up for very long for about a month but other than that it wasn't bad at all.

I am glad to know someone else around my age is going through this too. I have friends who just don't understand what I am going through. They are still trying to have more kids and one is trying to get pregnant for the first time so they are at a loss for words when it comes to my surgery. I don't blame them, I would be too in their shoes I guess. Anyway, I am rambling, must be the Vicoden kicking in. I hope your surgery goes well too and I will also pray you have a speedy recovery!

GOOD LUCK YOU TWO !

Jennifer
