Any symptoms "disappear" postop that you didn't attribute to dx?

Isn't that the silliest title for this post? Just couldn't think how to describe it!

What I'm trying to say is .......... Did anyone go into surgery with symptoms A, B, & C, which were resolved, but then find that a few other symptoms which you either hadn't paid much attention to or did not associate with your medical diagnosis had suddenly disappeared? For example, did you suddenly have more energy once you fully recovered from surgery and had been a bit "lazy" before? Was exercise easier? Did any aches and pains go away? Libido increase? Anything else?

Any symptoms "disappear" postop that you didn't attribute to dx?

I had my hysterectomy 2 years ago - my uterus and cervix were removed, I kept both ovaries.

Since my surgery I have increased energy, no pain while exercising, no more excessive bleeding, no more backaches. Sex is better becauese I'm not bleeding for 3 weeks every month.

I have always had PMS symptoms. Since my surgery the symptoms seem milder. I get some breast swelling & tenderness, slight headache and a bit of moodiness.

Overall, I feel much better. For me the hysterectomy was a good thing.

Any symptoms "disappear" postop that you didn't attribute to dx?

I was anemic before surgery, but taking a prescription iron supplement, and my hips ached constantly. For what seem like forever I would have to take a nap when I got home from work before I could even think about supper, and after supper would have to take another nap to rest up.

My energy level post op & post recovery is so much higher! DH & I bought new bikes last summer and before winter set in we were taking long bike rides several times a week. Prior to that it was many years since I had ridden a bike. I even gave up tennis, but we're getting the rackets ready with plans to start playing again this summer.

My hip pain is also much less frequent. I don't know if that is because of my enlarged uterus pressing on stuff or what.

Hope this helps, and best wishes!

Any symptoms "disappear" postop that you didn't attribute to dx?

Hi, had SAH 12/10/04. I was, not to my or Dr. knowledge, loaded with Endo and Adeno. Since surgery I no longer have leg and pelvic pain. Sometimes my legs would feel like they were 50 lbs lead weights. I'm tall and on the thin side, and I was really getting worried about what it could be. That is all gone. Use to have lots of pelvic and hip pain. Thats gone. I know this is gross but even my BM's have improved. Usually very gassy, and painful. Thats gone. I didn't know how bad I was until after surgery and and I can't beleive that I just accepted things as "I guess I'm just getting older". This was the best thing for my health.

My lower back no longer aches. Also, always, as long as I can remember, I've "felt" my bladder. I always felt like I had to "go" I learned over time how to tell if it was just bladder pressure or if I really had to go. Now I can't feel my bladder at all. I thought everyone "felt" there bladder! Wow! Didn't think that all was linked!

Since my surgery, I've had no more constant backache (the endometrioma was pressing on my right kidney, causing it), no more diarrhea (I lived on Immodium), I sleep 8 hours a night as opposed to 12-14, I am full of energy, and I no longer have the sensation of pelvic "fullness". I am a new woman! I didn't realize how miserable I was until I had the surgery.
