severe abdominal pain

Hello,

I am 42 years old and have been told by my gyn that i am in perimenopause.

I have experienced two episodes in the last six months in which I am woken up by severe pain in my lower abdomen. The pain is so bad that I begin to sweat profusely. The pain is not relieved by going to the bathroom, massaging my stomach or placing a heat pack on my abdomen. It finally subsides after a couple of hours and then the next day or so I have discharge that looks like pieces of pinkish red tissue. It seems like my lining is shedding even though I was told by my doctor on numerous ultrasounds that my lining is extremely thin and that I am perimenopausal.

I have had my menstrual cycle only 2 times this year so far. I was having pink red discharge when i went to the bathroom for two weeks prior to this occurring.

Should I go back to the doctor or just be patient and wait out this perimenopause.

Thank you

Re: severe abdominal pain

Hi (((little rocky))) If I were in your place, I would be going back to the DR... or to another DR. That does not sound anything like the perimenopause I went through.

Re: severe abdominal pain

I agree with surferbabe, I'd insist on a second opinion from a different doc for this though.

If the second leans that direction I'd ask for a thyroid test, FSH test, and estrogen test. They should be able to confirm that it's menopausal.

The first thing that came to mind when I read your post was the pain I experienced when a cyst would rupture. Which is most likely not the case with you, but an example of one of the many other things it could be. Pain like you're describing isn't a symptom of being perimenopausal and being patient when you are in pain isn't something I suggest as there are lots of options in treating the problem causing it, or if nothing else medicating the symptom itself.

Good luck and I hope that it turns out to be something very easily managed for you *big hugs*

Re: severe abdominal pain

i saw the doctor and she is having me get another ultrasound next thursday. She did an internal and found that I had tenderness of the left ovary.

I guess time to wait for the ultrasound in a week.

Also, I notice after I do a strenuous workout at the gym I have some bleeding when I go to the bathroom. I have to ask the doctor about that too.

Any advice that I should ask the doctor before I go for my ultrasound
