Re: Keep the cervix or no?

After my last appointment, I was kinda annoyed with Doc because he said he wanted it to be HIS decision whether or not he takes out the cervix. I thought that was extremely unfair since it was MY body. I did my research, I didn't want a period, mini or not!! I also ready fibroids can grow on cervix too! Today I had my preop and I brought all this to his attention. He clarified things for me. He said he plans on taking the cervix too, HOWEVER, there is a 2% chance that he would have to leave it. He explained that if it's too difficult to get it out without damaging the rectum and/or bladder he would have to leave it. He explained that if rectum is damaged, it means a colostomy bag, or catheter if bladder. I would rather have a mini period than either one of those things! He did say if he had to leave it, he would remove layers of tissue and cauterize so that would help the mini period. And since I am almost 46, my days of period would be numbered any way. I am still hoping to be in the 98 % though!
