Re: CO2 gas after Da Vinci Hysterectomy
Ladies,
To clarify, gas issues related to CO2 are not going to be passed as flatulence or burps. The gas is not your abdomen or intestine.
Any CO2 that remains follow a lap assisted surgery should be absorbed by your body, but it can take time. There really are no "do this and it will go away" tricks. The best "tricks" involve techniques used in OR, though the more you move the faster your body may absorb the remaining gas. Otherwise, pain meds might help as well as time.
The article I linked to above explains that part of the issue can be that gas pressed against the diaphragm and phrenic nerve. Pain medications may help the best to treat pain related to that issue.
If gas pains continue past a few days, your doctor would be the best one to determine if something else is going on or if there are other options you can try.
