Bladder question
Hi guys!
My hysterectomy (radical) was Dec 12, and I've had issues with peeing ever since- it is incredibly painful and seems to take longer. The dr was initially concerned about a UTI, but there's no infection. They said it could be my organs "settling". Has anyone else had this issue?

Re: Bladder question
I had LSH on 12/16 and it takes me longer to pee. There is no pain but I have to tell myself to relax. It's very strange! I hope your pain goes away soon

Re: Bladder question
I feel stupid, but what is a radical hysterectomy? I didn't know there could be so many. Thank you. Did you have a bladder sling, suspension, cystocele?

Bladder question
It's the term Google tells me to use instead of listing everything they took;-) they took out my uterus, cervix, Fallopian tubes, and ovaries. I'm probably using the wrong term! Asgard as I know, they didn't have to do anything to my bladder...which is why this is a little weird/concerning.

Re: Bladder question
Due to its proximity to the uterus, the bladder can get jostled about during surgery and may take a while to settle down. I had some mild cramping in the bladder for 4-6 weeks but then everything calmed down. Drink plenty of water and maybe give things a little time to settle.

Yes, that's my problem as well. Relax. I take a deep breath and try to free my mind.

Re: Bladder question
I'm 4 weeks post op. radical hysterectomy including cervix and some lymph nodes. Peering is totally different for me. I no longer get a feeling if a full bladder. I just get a stabby pain. It took me a while to figure out that stabby pain=I have to pee. I have to relax and actually focus on peering now. It's not just an automatic thing I do. It's like I have to think "ok bladder-pee" I have pain when I stop peeing. I used to pee but not empty my bladder all the way and not know it. It's weird. That seems to have just stopped. I haven't seem my dr yet so I don't know how much of this is normal. I had no idea peeing and pooping would be this big of a deal..

Re: Bladder question
I have not had any pain - and my surgery was 12/17 but like the others find that to completely empty my bladder, I must sit for a while and relax, I find pulling all clothing to my ankles and spreading my knees helps to relax and let it flow. Not sure if your pain is because you aren't fully emptying your bladder. Good Luck!
