I guess if you feel well enough and your doc released you for workouts then go for it. Just start out slow and listen to your body. I still couldn't do anything like that at that point but everyone Is different. As for travel I flew 4 hours at 12 weeks and it was ok. I got approval from the surgeon first.

10 weeks since hysterectomy - exercising?

Hi there! I'm a little earlier in my recovery than you are. However, have you tried reaching out to the group of ladies who had their hysterectomies in the same week you did? They have been busy posting about their recoveries here:

https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=571972

Once you click on that link, you'll see all the posts they've made. If you don't feel like reading through all their posts from the beginning, just click on "last" to skip right to the end and read this week's posts.

If you decide to post there, the women who had their surgery in the same week as you will be notified.

Hope this helps!

10 weeks since hysterectomy - exercising?

Hello, I also had an abdominal hysterectomy and will be 10 weeks tomorrow. I started walking 1 mile around week 3 and week 4 started 2 miles. 1 mile was fine 2 wasn't so I had to cut back. My dr released me week 7 for everything, said just to listen to your body. So of course since I'm a runner the next day I tried running. And again wasn't ready. So now that almost week 10 I have just started walking/running intervals. Walk 2 minutes jog 1. Today was my third day to do this, oh and I have been riding my bike around 6 miles for the last week. As so many has posted on this site that really you just have to listen to your body! So thankful to finally be able to start exercising again though! Hope that you will be able to also!

Re: 10 weeks since hysterectomy.

That was so helpful. You seem to be doing brilliant.Yes you are right to listen to the body because it really tells you when you have overdone it.Looking at you exercise plan now I will start to attempt the same.I feel now I'm not going to be as sore.thanks for the advice

10 weeks since hysterectomy - exercising?

Oh your welcome! I have noticed today a little more soreness around my incision so I will probably cut back to walking and riding bikes for a few days! Geez I guess one day we will be all over this recovery process! I get so anxious to be healed completely but it is a process for sure and I guess we really can't rush recovery! I hope your exercising goes well for you!

I attempted some light stretching first and then a 3 mile walk,I am thrilled.I have fat on my waist I need to shift because I ate so much when I was at home recovering.Somehow the fat landed on my waist which I never had before. It was all the sitting around aswell.I find at this stage if I wear shoes with a heel I feel pain in my tummy next day.Sweeping the floor movement seems to set off something aswell.Hope the soreness goes from your incision.Mine gets itchy and red.Still feels numb there too.

You did amazing today with your workout! Yay! I know that makes you feel good! Yes my incision and the area around has definitely had it's bouts of uncomfortableness! And it is also more red by the end of an active day and still numb! My dr said in about 20 percent of women that it stays that way! Oh and sweeping is hard on me also! I've enjoyed our conversations we should stay in touch!

I have to say when I scratch around my incision I am getting a feeling there that I didn't before and then some parts are numb.I had two appointments with doc since op.They just did the bare minimum.Im looking forward to my first real check up in October.Feels a bit long to wait,It will be 4 months by that stage. At week 10 I remember waking up one morning and all the tightness inside had just subsided. It just feels like the body really needs the time to recover.By 6 months they say you are 80% healed. How are you finding you insides now?
