Deprovera anyone?

Greetings sisters, I was wondering if anyone has taken Deprovera as shots. I was given 300mg in December in the butt to put me in temporary menopause cause I had been hemmoredging every month when I got my period which made me anemic and had to have transfusions.. but since Dec/04 no peiod so I am debating about just keep getting the shots.. but deep down I know my Fibroid has to come out but am curious as to know what woudl happen to the Fibrois if I just stay on the Deprovera to buy me more time. Deprovera anyone?

Hi Chanty,

Possibly you have had Lupron Depot shots instead of Deprovera shots??? Lupron causes chemical menopause that you described having.

I did (3) months of lupron shots to shrink my fibroids enough for my LSH. I had hot flashes, night sweats and I lost inerest in sex. My fibroids did shrink enough for my LSH and I have not had any lupron side effects since surgery.

My Dr. did tell me that if I chose not to go ahead with my hyst, my fibroids would start growing back after I stopped having the shots. My Dr. also discussed the long term side effects of lupron. He chose to use it only for 3 months since it can cause bone density loss if used too long. I can suggest talking to your Dr. about that if you stay on lupron long term.

Best wishes,

Mary
