6 Wks Post Op Question List

I have Raynaud's as well. I am always amazed when a doctor does know about it as a lot of them don't. Good luck. I was making my list but I know your ideas on handing it to them. I always chicken out and think that my list is too long so don't mention half of it. I have these lumps on my back that I keep forgetting to mention. Thanks for the reminder on lists as that was on my list months ago before I even found out about the endo. Was put on the back burner, I will put it on my list so I will get it checked out foresure this time.

6 Wks Post Op Question List

Hi Everyone!

I went for my 6 week post op visit yesterday and am fortunate to have found a gyno (female) that answers a lot of questions before I have a chance to ask them. Or inquires about specifics before I have a chance to tell her about them That in addition to drawing me lots of pictures whenever I inquire(d) about surgical issues.

I informed her that I had been surfing trying to get some hyster info and was fortunate to have found this wonderful site! I did ask her about the "swelly belly" and she stated that it was a combination of surgical swelling and the fact that the muscles are relaxed (and should remain so through the recovery process) are not resisting anything (gas, bloating, etc.) Not sure if I'm buying that and remain quiet curious (and it appears others are as well) about this annoying phenomenon.

She didn't steer me on HRT but I had been on a 3 month course of Lupron pre-op and suffered through the flashes, etc. and she did suggest that it might be something I'd like to take post-op to lessen the severity of the recovery. She wrote a script and I waited 3 weeks before I filled it. What a difference!! She stated that I could stay on it for a bit then we could wean off if I wanted to...mmmm....we'll have to seriously think about that! I'm quite happy been flash free LOL

As far as pap smears go she informed me through the pre-op decision making process that mitigating the risk of cervical cancer and the fact that I would not need another pap smear is the only reason for removing the cervix. I opted for a TAH/BSO to mitigate the risk of cervical and ovarian cancer or any subsequent surgeries for cysts/fibriods based on my history. Also was fortunate enough to talk to others that had opted to keep their ovaries and had further complications resulting in further surgeries (supporting my surgeons theory).

Good Luck with your appointments and hopefully you're all feeling well at your six week mark!
