Re: Anyone have adhesions?
I have had adhesions even before I had my first surgery--thanks to endometriosis. The adhesions have not ever shown up on CT's or ultrasounds. In general, adhesions won't show up on any test though some skilled doctors may recognize them.
While your symptoms could be some bowel involved adhesions, you may also be having some gastro issues. In my quest for pain relief we found that I had IBS which could cause cramps and issues with bowel movements. Without realizing it, our diet can change following this surgery and we can end up with gastro issues we never had before. Additionally, changing/adding supplements, vitamins, and hormones can affect our gastro system.
I would recommend keeping a symptom diary and then sit down and talk to your doctor--either your GYN or GP, which ever you are the most comfortable with. In the diary, keep track of the pain, bowel movements, what you are eating and drinking, any meds you are taking (including over the counter vitamins and supplements), and anything else you can think of that could be contributing to your symptoms. Also note what helps relieve them and what makes them worse.
Keep in mind, since you did have part of your small intestine removed, that may be contributing to this whole issue.
in there and keep us posted!

Re: Anyone have adhesions?
I had 2 c-sections , my last one was 7 years ago...I had a bunch of adhesion , Thats why I had to get this done..Aside from murder periods that last 11 days , my bladder was adhered to my uterus which was pushing it up and out causing it not to heal correctly..I sometimes felt them when I sneezed , I would get a sharp pain that would double me over for a few seconds..He said he got rid of them all , SO we shall see!!

Re: Anyone have adhesions?
I have adhesions! To answer your question ... I, too am worried that my adhesions have grown back in new and exciting places. Hmmm, I forget the terminology. But I think I had a total hysterectomy LAVH I believe is the right one. It was believed I had endometriosis, but it turned out I had severe adhesion syndrome/ disease. I forget what my doctor called it. I am 32, but he said they call it frozen pelvis when you have extensive adhesions to nearby organs. My uterus was apparently glued to the back and attaching my liver to lower ribcage. It's weird because it wasn't until I got really miserable this last year... No gyno ever thought I had anything wrong with me prior to this. My periods were always totally regular albeit miserable.

Re: Anyone have adhesions?
I dont know if I have adhesions, I had a lap gallbladder removal 10 years ago, and a c section for twins 2 years ago and exploratory surgery for my pelvic pain about 6 months ago, i had my hys 3 weeks ago and this week i keep getting more pain rather than less.
I had endometriosis and andenomyesis do this cause adhesions? How do I get the surgery report from my doc? Do I just ask him? the doc in my area are weird about those things... I may have to pay for it or he may not let me see it.
He said I had leisons on my uterus whe he did the exploratory surgery....I am in so much pain and my doc wont take me seriously. at t 1 week post op he did an internal exam and used one hand inside to push on my incisions while feeling them with his other hand on the outside, it was horrible painful...but He hasnt seen me since and
when I call they just tell me that I am fine and shouldnt be in pain. I will call monday to try agin to make an appointment. But I fear i got the wrong doc, He is 70 yrs old and old fashiond and german and I get the feeling that he thinks i am an air head drug addict...
I dont know about air head but I am not an addict
he just gives me a reply that boils down to ...dont worry your pretty little head over it.
Like I am over reacting because I am a woman and he knows more about my body than me so he gets to judge how much pain I am in. I want a new doc but none of the choices where I live are any better and where I live is a drug capitol. Look up portsmouth oh on the net...we are a small town with a drug problem worse than new york city.
So none of the doc give pain meds..
That makes it hard when you have a chronic pain problem...like my back.
You have to go to a pain specialist for pain meds here. and they are expensive and do not except insurance...cash only.
Then no pharmacy except like one or 2 will fill the perscriptions and they are far away like either in columbus or in another state hours away and wont take insurance so agian its cash. so it would cost me 5 or 6 hundred dollars for a one month supply of pain meds..and they only write scripts for stuff that is super stong and horribly addictive.
and those are the only options I have. I havent been to one of the pain clinics but I know people who have. I really dont want to go that route. But where I live it is the only way to get help if you are truely in pain....You have to go sit in the waiting room with the sellers/ addicts and worse.
Then you will be labled an addict and no DR here will ever take you seriously agian. People have died in out ER waiting room because no one belived them.
Im sorry so chatty.. I am in so much pain...and these are my options. What would you do?

Re: Anyone have adhesions?
I don't see what his age or what being German has to do with his abilities as a doctor. Perhaps if you go to a hospital-affiliated pain clinic you won't find drug addicts or sellers there.
Hope you find relief from your pain soon.

Re: Anyone have adhesions?
I had a large ovarian cyst burst and bleed out all over my abdomen, after I had my uterus taken out 2yrs earlier. I believe this started my issue with adhesion. I did have cramping. It also affected my BMs. Sometimes I knew I needed to go 2# because the pain and fullness I felt in my abdomen. 30 mins later = BM. I would also get random sharp cramps that would cause me to quickly bend over in pain and then stop just as fast. Jan 09 I had surgery to remove my right ovary and they also did major work to remove endo and major adhesion's. This past
Thursday 9/23 I had my left ovary taken out and again they found endo and adhesion's. I don't know how bad because I barely remember talking to the doctor due to meds so I did not ask the questions that I wanted to. I have to wait for post-op for those. Adhesion's can hurt for some people and not for others. Keep the DR informed of your pain, where it is happening and how it feels. Good luck!
