Throat still irritated 12 days post-op

Has anytone else had this problem...soreness and still spitting up stuff from intubation, anesthesia? I don't have a cold or symptoms of other problems.

are you a smoker? Or did you smoke pre - op ?
Sometimes that will leading to the coughing. It might be best to check with your doc just to be on the safe side

Not a smoker. Stopped in l974.

Good for you on stopping smoking! I stopped about 250 times before I made it stick!

I had a red, icky, irritated sore throat with "pockets" a few days after surgery. I was a little alarmed at the appearance and had them check me for strep. Thankfully it was negative. I would say it took a good 7+ days for it to really go away. The GP who saw me said it was very possibly from the tube. He said I might have picked up something in the hospital, too. He really wasn't sure.

I guess that's not very helpful - sorry about that! That was my experience with this kind of thing after surgery.

I really hope you feel better. It might be worth a call to the on-call doc. I hope you're still able to have a good 4th of July!

I only had GA for the last ten minutes of my surgery, but I had that rumbling flem feeling in my chest on and off, I especially noticed it while lying down. I just coughed it up when i heard it cracklin. Sounds weird I know, lol. When I had GA for an emerg c/s 4yrs ago, I recall having a sore throat for 2-3days. I think it's pretty normal, and btw..I've never been a smoker.
