Bleeding one year after surgery

Hello ladies,

I have a question. I had a partial hysterectomy about last May. I had my uterus and cervix removed. I still have my ovaries.

Yesterday I had some cramping that required some advil and occasionally I have "period" like cramps. But today, I had some pretty bad bleeding. Is that normal? It looked like a regular period.
And its a little alarming. Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks!
Vivian

If you do not have your cervix, bleeding is not normal and you need to touch base with your doctor. But don't panic! There are many reasons for post hysterectomy bleeding, some of which are no big deal.

Is the bleeding vaginal or could it be your bladder? If it is your bladder, it could be a kidney stone or UTI. If it is vaginal, you may have an issue with your cuff.

Write down any details about your symptoms, how much bleeding, the color, etc. and take those with you to your appointment.

in there and let us know what your doctor says!

Re: Bleeding one year after surgery

Thanks ladies. I will keep you posted.

It is vaginal, bright red blood, when I wipe. That's about it. I'm not hemorrhaging and I'm not in pain. Again, I've had some cramping in the past, which I'm not sure if that's normal either. Also, the scar above my belly button (I had a LVAH,) hurts a lot! Can that be connected to the bleeding?
