Hyst due 30th Jan and now I have high blood pressure

Hi there everyone,
this is my first time posting here so brief 'me'. I am Kimberley from Rochester UK, 40 years old, married to Greg with a 13 year old daughter. Have severe endo everywhere and am due for hyst & bowel resect on 30th Jan. Have been waiting for hyst for AGES so will not let anything get in my way of it.
But then............ felt a little 'not quite 100%', sore throat, ear ache, fatigue,so went to docs yesterday to find glands are swollen but easily treated with antibiotics. She thought whilst I was there she would check my blood pressure. Only ever had problems with this when I was pregnant but father has problems. Anyway, it was 157 over 100 (last June it was 128 over 80 - normal apparently) and doc advised that if it doesn't come down then the surgeon would probably postpone the hyst. She has prescribed a drug called Bendrofluazide which I take 1 a day and I have to go back next Wednesday to see how it has helped.
I am so very worried that surgeon will not perform the op, do any of you know what an acceptable level of blood pressure is or whether the op could still happen but with careful monitoring of my blood pressure.
Your advise is really gratefully appreciated.
Kimberley x

Hyst due 30th Jan and now I have high blood pressure

High Blood pressure is nothing to mess with. If surgery is cancelled for a little while, then it will be better until you get it under control. I have HTN myself. It took a while before it was under control. Border line blood pressure is 140/90. Maybe your pressure was elevated due to the stress of being in the doctors office. It might be a good idea to have your pressure checked several times before returning to the doctor. Do you have anyone who could take it for you? It helps to keep a record of it so doctors will know if it was just a one time thing or you leading into HTN. Best of luck!

high blood pressure

Hi I know from experience that blood pressure can rise when going to doctors. Try to stay calm. I've had blood pressure for awhile, and mine goes up with nerves. Get yourself a blood pressure machine, and take it periodically different times of the day. It might be due to white coat syndrom.
Take care. They have good meds for the blood pressure. It will go down.

High blood pressure - hyst due

Thank you ladies for your support & advice,
After reading these I am hoping that my blood pressure drops sufficiently for the hyst to take place.
Am seeing docs next Wednesday after work (that could cause it to raise too - after a day at work) and pre-op check is following Monday so will relax over the weekend which may help. And ofcourse the medication my docotr has prescribed should bring it down too.
Thank you once again.
Love Kimberley x
