Vaginal scab/ stitches?

Hey everyone, I just had my 6 week post-op check up and was cleared to return to having Intercourse. Well me and my boyfriend had sex but he said he could feel something scratching him, and I felt it myself. I'm wondering, is it scabbing, or stitches that may have not dissolved yet?

I had it done laprascopically, and they were checking my vaginal cuff. No mention of scabbing or stitches that may still be there. I'm wondering if I should call my doctors office or not?

Re: Vaginal scab/ stitches?

Hi Jennocide! My doctor warned me about that at pre-op. It could take longer than 6 weeks for the stitches to dissolve. Sometimes it could take upwards of 8 weeks for that to happen as in my case. When I talked to my doc about intercourse at pre-op, he mentioned that the stitches that he used has barbs in it and if my spouse and I tried anything earlier than when released my spouse might get poked at. I thought he was kidding, but apparently not! There are many other threads that that mention this as well. Your significant other is not alone in feeling a stitch poke at him. It does not sound unusual to me, and unfortunately, it might take a couple to a few more weeks for those stitches to completely dissolve. The timeframe is different for each of us.

Wishing you the best for your continued recovery!
