When to resume post-op intimacy?

I'm not sure how long to wait before having sex again. It's been two weeks and *thankfully* some of those feelings are making an appearance. Any ideas?

When to resume post-op intimacy?

my doc told me 6 to 8 weeks. That seems to be the norm of what everybody says.

The only way to find out for sure is to contact your doctor, since only s/he knows your inidividual situation and when you can be cleared.

In the meantime, have you found our <link> Post-Op Page yet? It's packed with information for your recovery, including 5 relevant articles. You'll also find this page Post-Op Sex Checkpoint very useful, too.

Sending all good wishes as you continue to heal!

I would call the doctor. They didn't give you any post op instructions when you left the hospital? I think the norm is nothing in the vagina for at least 6 weeks.

Re: When to resume post-op intimacy?

I was told nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks, so no sex, for sure until then. I, too, had "those feelings" in my second and third weeks. The intensity does pass. Because of the feelings I had during those two weeks, I was so looking forward to relations with my DH when I was released at my six week checkup. However, I was terribly disappointed the first time, as I was not able to feel anything. I cried so hard, thinking that things might never be "right" again between DH and myself. We waited a week, and tried again, and this time, it was just like before my surgery. We both enjoyed things, and we were both satisfied afterwards.
Perhaps, a quick call to your doctor is in order. Some doctors will allow "outercourse" before the six week mark. However, only you and your doctor know your situation, so be sure to ask.
In the meantime, maybe some cuddling with your SO is in order??

Good luck in your recovery! Sending best wishes!
