Week 3.5 and feeling pretty good

I had my surgery on June 3rd. Never having had as much as a freckle removed in my life...I was really frightened. The worst for me was the few hours in recovery and the first night. OMYGOD! The first 2 weeks were REALLY painful. My Gyni kept telling me to take what I urgently need and not much more if I can. I definately took the "drip" and Tyenol #3 when I needed to. He said the constipation from pain killers and stomach upset could be worse than the pain. Who knows? No gas..no constipation. At the end of week 2, the pain subsided noticeably and every, every morning I notice an improvement. He said "Two weeks of really strong pain!" The stitches are dry and I can't see the incision line at this point. Peeing was painful and that has subsided 100%. I have been eating a bowl of stewed prunes, apricots, raisins & rhubarb every afternoon. NO constipation. My husband has been the biggest help on earth! Meals and doing the 1,000 things all of us women do every day without even thinking! Poor guy..it seems so hard when HE is doing all these things. I miss being part of the world and..my gardens. The second week I couldn't stop crying over everything and anything...can't reach my water glass...why hasn't my mom visited me more often...I'm going to miss my daughters graduation commencement...I just cried and cried and cried.
I am finally learning to be "in recovery" "pampered" "quiet" and it is okay. In bed, I made 40 exotic necklaces! But I am definately lying down on and off throughout the day. A big lesson for a multi-tasking, super-woman ~ wife, daughter and mother who took pride in zooming non-stop 42/7 for everyone!!! Hey...this is a huge forced lesson.. to embrace myself for once, to meditate, to thing about so many things... and you know what...it is nice!

Week 3.5 and feeling pretty good

Hooray for you! I have to say I really enjoyed my time off and pampered myself like crazy. It was rather nice just to lie around and get in touch with myself.

Glad you are healing nicely. It's been 14 weeks since my surgery and the "pinches and owies" have finally gone away.
