incision not healing

Ok so I had my tah/bso on November 12th, and here I am still fighting to have my incision infection free and closed. I have done nothing wrong, and have been cleaning the incision non stop for weeks per my physician, and taking bactrim for the past two weeks. It is still open and oozing pus, and very painful when my husband cleans it three times a day, puts Nystatin Powder on it, and then re-bandages it with sterile bandages. Is there something wrong with me? Anyone else had problems with their incision healingj? I have been hospitalized three times since my surgery and am worried that if it isnt any better by Monday when I return to the doctors, I may end up being put in the hospital again. Anyone have any ideas of why this is going on or how to correct it? I also continue to lose weight since my surgery, still have not much of an energy level.....and wish I could just skip Christmas because of depression. I have lost a total of 40 pounds since my surgery. Thanks for any advice anyone has

I'm sorry I have no meaningful advice - sounds like you're going through a very rough time - all I can do is send my HUGS and best wishes.

Re: incision not healing

I feel the incision pain! My incision opened up on me too. My surgeons have me packing it with guaze soaked in sterile saline and peroxide mixture. So far no infection. I have been on way too many antibiotics since surgery. My incision also looks as if it is oozing but it isnt according to both my surgeons. They claim the discharge is normal. They also told me that as long as my incision bleeds a little when I change the dressing, it means the tissue is healthy. They both keep reassuring me that everything is ok. Oh, they both keep telling me it will be at least 3-4 weeks before it will begin to close. They say it all depends on how "deep" the incision is open as to how long it takes to heal. Maybe what I have been told will give you some hope. Just know you are not alone! Hope things look a little brighter for you!
