size of uterus or fibroids requiring abdominal hysterectomy?

Thanks for your reply ccd, msbevo and daisylily. There seem to be lots of people on this forum (in the US, not in Aus) that have tummy tuck at the same time as abdominal hysterectomy, but I suspect this is just a fantasy for me as I haven't even seen a plastic surgeon and I don't know of anyone in Melbourne who has has both done ay once. I'm going to focus on sorting *out the mechanical issues first, then if it turns out the only option is abdominal I'll try and check out the tummy tuck before I dave it done.

Good luck with your surgeries, I hope all goes to plan. It's good to know there are Drs who will do lap ay that size of fibroid, I'll keep my fingers crossed that I van find one here.

My MD wanted to do it abdominally due to the view possibly being diminished because of fibroids and not being exactly sure what was going on with my ovaries. I'm glad I did the abdominal after reading about some of the complications that have occurred with vaginal and laparoscopic surgeries in ladies who underwent surgery the same week as me. My recovery has been excellent. I had a laparoscopic surgery over 20 years ago to remove my appendix and ended up almost dying from an internal abcess so that made my decision easier as well. In comparison to most of the ladies I have talked to in my week on here, my recovery has gone as good if not better than theirs. The scar was not an issue to me because I am not a skinny girl anyway and already have a large appendectomy scar from when they had to drain my abcess so there already were no bikinis in my future. Wish you luck with your decision. It is very personal and what is right for one may not be right for another.
