The wait seems endless!

I found out on Mar. 13 that I will need surgery. When
I asked them to book it, I was told that they were
completely booked until June. I have 3 months to
endlessly worry. I'm glad I found this site to help with
my questions, but I don't know how I will get by until
then. Does anyone else have a long wait? My life is
in limbo.

The wait seems endless!

That sounds horrible. I am lucky,I just found out I needed surgery and they said they should be able to schedule it by the end of April. My heart goes out to you. Hopefully the time will go fast.
God Bless.

The wait seems endless!

Kimberly,

Hello and Welcome to HysterSisters. I am sorry that you have such a long wait, but at least you have found the most wonderful group to help support you while you endure the wait. I had about a 9 week wait and so I know how horrible the wait is. Hang in there, and lean on us. We are here for you.

The wait seems endless!

Kimberly -

Sorry your wait has to be so long. I know once I made the decision to go ahead I wouldn't want to wait nearly 3 months.

Doing research helped me, and this site of course. Hang in.

The wait seems endless!

Kimberly:

It must be a Canada thing. My dr. and I agreed on Mar. 2nd that we'd go the hysterecotomy route, and I was told he was already booking for July. When I protested that I had long standing plans for July and Aug. that would be difficult to change he said he'd try to fit me in sometime in June, and he'd let me know if/when he got an opening. Now that I've made the decision, I'd like to get it over with. The posts from women who have dates set a few weeks after they make the decision are making me really envious.

I'm so glad I've found this site. Not only have I found a lot of useful info here and nearly split my sides laughing over some of the threads, but its wonderful to hear from people who can understand that this isn't a tragedy, and that actually I'm pleased. Kind of scared too, but glad that an end is in sight.

The wait seems endless!

Thanks Itic,

As Canadians, we unfortunantly have much longer waits
for elective surgery. I don't know how I can get by for
the next 3 months. I am also envious of these other
women. Hopefully with the support of our fellow ladies
in waiting, we will make it till our surgery dates. This
web site is a life saver .

The wait seems endless!

Dear Kimberly and Itic,

I am so sorry you have to wait so long. I know I dreaded that myself and was very lucky to have an empathetic DD who promised no more periods once we got an approval. I did have one more, but maybe good, as I didn't have any nagging doubts as to whether I was doing the right thing.

As for your wait, being fresh home from the castle today, all I can say is that it IS the worst part. I might suggest scheduling yourself busy for the next while to keep your mind and body busy. Good luck to you both and all the LIW. Rest assured that you are doing the worst now, the hospital will be a breeze. Okay, maybe a stiff wind, but it will fell good in your face, girls. Now, go prepare your royal subjects for your upcoming princesshood. I see I have not done a good enough job. Someone left me the garbage to take out already. To the dungeon with them!!!

The wait seems endless!

I had a 4 month and 1 day wait from the time I was told I had cervical cancer and needed a hyst until I finally got one and mine wasn't elective. Sometimes the wait seemed forever I just tried to focus on one day at a time and not let it consume my every thought and I got through. Every time I didn't think I was going to make it I would just tell myself This too Shall Pass" and you know what it did.

Good luck and spend the next 3 months educating yourself you will be well prepared.

The wait seems endless!

Well, I guess mine wasn't as long as yours. I found out on February 23rd that I would have to have a TAH. I then had to wait a couple of weeks while it went through the insurance approval stuff. When the call came to schedule, the first date available was April 23rd. So, a two month wait. In my case the doctor's schedule was full for March and he is taking a two week vacation at the beginning of April. The wait is definitely tough--I'm just finishing up one of the most painful periods I have had. But, just one more to go and its all done with forever. I just keep coming to this site to soak up all the information I can get.

The wait seems endless!

Kimberly,

Sorry that you have to wait so long. I had to wait about a month before my surgery. This site really helped during that wait. Try to keep busy till then and think POSITIVE! This may sound really strange but while I was waiting I prepared myself for surgery by doing sit ups (of all things). I don't know if it will work for you but it did help me. Enjoy the spring and before you know it, it will be time.

Best of luck,
Noelle
