Vivid Dreams

I am 8 days post TAH. Almost every time i fall asleep I have really crazy dreams. Sometimes they are horrible, sometimes not so bad. Either way they are very, very vivid and feel so real. After I wake up it takes me a long time to get them out of my mind. Any idea what causes this? How long does it take until it stops happening? I am starting to be afraid to sleep, except I am so tired and sleeping alot.

Re: Vivid Dreams

Are you taking pain meds or have you just stopped taking them? What about other medications? Sometimes, meds can cause extremely vivid dreams. And sometimes, when you stop taking them, you get the dreams (but it should only be for a few days).

I suppose it could also be a side effect of the anesthesia still wearing off.

If it continues, talk to your doctor.

Re: Vivid Dreams

I guess it's just part of the process, and will pass eventually. Oh well. i should consider myself lucky since that is my biggest complaint, and the healing process seems to be going as well as can be expected. Having a hysterectomy is not a fun experience but I am sure the worst is behind me and better is to come.

Re: Vivid Dreams

I've had some truly bizarre dreams - putting it down to residual anesthesia in the system and those pain meds, lol.

I usually have some pretty chaotic dreams, but these....well, I just have no idea how they come to be.

How about looking up in the sky and seeing a cloud which looks like it might turn into a tornado, then seeing it transform into a bunch of tiny shining silver dots which turn into birds in formation, which then hang suspended in the sky, whilst still in formation, and then turn into hockey pucks with my team's logo on it. Then laughing and saying, "oh look! It's one of these new adverts!". And I don't even follow hockey!

Re: Vivid Dreams

When I was still on the heavy duty pain meds, I experienced very vivid dreams. I would wake myself up doing the motions in my dreams, ie: waving someone down, dusting....lol. It's interesting that's for sure.
