Question about TAH/BSO incision

Can anyone tell me what kind of incision they have? I have endo and many adhesions (I feel them up to my ribs!). My doc says he'll make a 'bikini line' incision. Will that be high enough for him to see everything? How many inches wide are your incisions?

Question about TAH/BSO incision

Just came home today and mine is just above the hair line and about 6 inches wide. Apparently this gives them plenty of room because it allowed for my uterus to be removed and my bladder to be attached correctly where it was just flopping around before.

Best of luck to you. I know its easier said than done but the time before surgery is the worst!!!

Question about TAH/BSO incision

HI, Iam 3wks post TAH/LSO and my bikini line is just above my pubic area and it is about 7 inches long. and yes this does give enough room to get everything out because with this type of surgery they also inflate the tummy a bit with gas. that is why you see so many of us that have had this type of surgery post her talking about the gas pains. I hope this helps you and good luck with your surgery, Cathy

Question about TAH/BSO incision

I had my SAH on April 5th, and my bikini scar is 6 inches (I measured it). It is below the hairline, and at 6 weeks it is just a very think pale pink line.

My GYN had enough room to check out the whole pelvic area.

Question about TAH/BSO incision

I had my TAH-BSO on June 20th, 2002,.. I have the famous psyclopse incisions,.. the first from my tubal ligation, 9/30/99(laproscopic at the belly button), and the other my bikini line from my hysterectomy, 6/20/02. You know,.. the one-eyed smilie.

Anyway, my abdominal is about an 8", but I had an enlarged uterus to deal with among everything else so I required a bit more room. I had adenomyosis, and my uterus was the size of a canteloupe. I also had fibroids, ovarian cysts, severe scar tissue, and massive adhesions.

It's been about 3 years now since my hysterectomy, and the incision sites are so faint you can barely find them. They are both very faint, thin, white lines.

Question about TAH/BSO incision

Hi ya,
My incision is 9" bikini cut ...I measured it...because everyone kept asking ha ha ha....I had tons of adhesions too so my doc wanted to have a good look around...he also used retractors for a better view...which caused some post op and recovery muscular burning type pain on the right and left sides of my incision basically ...but it does get better with time honest...he did a great job! Also, I feel that everything has been 'released' that was adhesed together pre op...I think maybe if you have adhesions too you'll notice rather quickly that your organs have been "freed up" good luck to ya!
Hugs and Prayers!

Question about TAH/BSO incision

I had been told that I would have a bikini-line incision for the panniculectomy (which would go hip-to-hip) and then a vertical incision for the TAH due to the size of my uterus.

When I awoke I was pleasantly surprised to find they had been able to use only the horizontal incision.
