Re: still having pain after 2 weeks?

blanco,
Yes, it is normal to still have pain at 2 weeks post op, especially since you had additional repairs. I was still having pain at 5 weeks and I didn't have repairs done. This is a major surgery and will take some time to recover from.

Please remember that you are in the initial stages of your recovery. It can take 6-8 weeks depending on the type of surgery and what exactly you had done. For slow healers (myself included) and those with pelvic repairs it can take closer to 12 weeks. Full recovery can take 6 months to a year. Yes, a year!

Swelly belly may also be an issue and my suggestion is to just `go with it`. It can stick around for quite a while. There doesn`t seem to be any way to make it go away faster and the severity and length of duration vary greatly from one woman to the next.

Now is the time to move around a little, nothing strenuous, just a little walking around the house. Avoid the stairs if possible. This will help move the gas through your system and get your bowels moving again. Also drink a lot of water and eat small healthy meals to help your digestion get regulated.

Don`t give up on pain meds too early (although they can cause constipation). If you are in pain your body is trying to deal with that instead of healing.

Re: still having pain after 2 weeks?

Totally normal. Even though you didn't have an abominal incision like someone who had a TAH, you still had the same work done inside. Just take advantage of being in Princess mode, relax, rest, and heal.
