Getting Nervous
Hi Girls~ first time on for me here! I have set a date for my hyst for May13. I will have a vag hyst, leaving my ovaries, taking my cervix. I have many concerns, so not sure how to catergorize them all. I wonder about menopuase, sex afterwards, moods. I just found this site, & realized there is so much to all of this. My husband is very concerned. Should I be this nervous about all of it? Any answers to the above would be so helpful. I know this is vague!
Thanks!

Getting Nervous
Hello - I had the exact same surgery 11 days ago. My Dr. informed me that by keeping my ovaries, I would still go through PMS, but just no period. Since I am "only 44" I should still have a good 5-10 years left of my ovaries.
I was pretty nervous prior to surgery mainly because I did not know what kind of pain to expect. I experienced lower pelvic pain similar to bad cramps. Gas - Oh yes! It took about a week to have a bowel movement.
Haven't had sex yet and have no desire to either! :0) I am however, feeling very moody. Although I had my last period one week before the surgery, it seems like the surgery kicked PMS into high gear - breast swelling and tenderness, moody, etc.
Overall, I feel great. I've had very little pain. It's as if the day I came home from the Castle, the pain disappeared. I will on occasion take a motrin if I've been too active.
Hopefully, you'll have the same success and speed recovery!!!

Getting Nervous
I am having a TVH also. Mine is scheduled for the 18th. I thought I understood that as long as you keep your ovaries you wont go into menopause after the surgery. I'm very nervous also!!!! It's nice to know that we are not alone.

Getting Nervous
Hi Ladies,
I am 10 days post op, I kept one ovary, and I am sure your concered I certainly was, every day I had more questions,
I too feel like I had PMS right away, food cravings and all, the ovaries still keep working through so no HRT for those who can keep an ovary. so sorry still PMS just no cramps no flo!!!
I feel pretty good, I am more sore then prippy, but I was very surprised at how much it DID NOT hurt, I expected a lot worse pain. I still have aches and I haven't had too much of the gas, lucky I guess my bladder hurt the most streching out into new space, but that passed I was afraid to go Pee for the first time so I had to turn on the facuet for the first few times, it did not hurt at all. I sleep a lot still but had a very low blood count, my appetite came back after a few days and I have enjoyed movies laying and not feeling guilty for it.
Oh the sex question I don't know, to early to think about it, but I am still attracted to men so I think the libido will be the same LOL sorry trying to be funny.
here are some great pre op articles someone gave me

Hello : )
Millions of other ladies have survied hysts so let's do it together. My vag hyst (hopefully) is 13 May too : >
Sex, they say wait until the doc checks everything has healed before giving it a try.
As I have panic / anxiety I'm a nervous wreck so I can't comment on being nervous.
Do u have a prolapse at all? Are they fixing up the bladder or posterior part of your vag do u know? I'm in aussie land and here they pack the vagina with miles of padding (don't know why) and take it out after a day. My dr said I won't need a cathatar (hopefully).

I'm having my vag (hopefully) hyst on 13 May let's do it together. Did u post your date to this site so ppl can pray for u?
Good idea leaving the ovaries and taking the cervix and uterus.
Menopause should take longer to kick in.
Sex - wait around 6 weeks until your dr checks out his handy work and gives u the all clear.
I hear (in australia) where I am they pack the vag with wadding for 24 hrs, not sure why, that should be fun when they take it out.
Anxious? Sorry I have panic anxiety so I'm petrified!!!!!!!!
The good news - I have sooo many girlfriends who've had it done and said "It's the best thing they've ever done!"
May our heavenly Father guide the drs and ppl caring for u. Hugggsss
