can doing too much cause you to have to have more surgery?

One of my student's moms freaked me out with a story of having to have a prolift about eight months after her LSH because things did not heal as well as they should have.

Any info? I'm totally freaked out.

Hi Crissi,

I am 4 1/2 yrs. post-op from my LSH and I am still very pleased with my surgery results. At any given time, you will find several LSH ladies on Hyster Sisters sharing their positive results.

In pre-op, my Dr. told me that having normal pap smears for years and a sturdy cervix were *major* prerequisites for being a good candidate for a LSH. I am nowhere near a Dr... and maybe the student's mom was not a good candidate for a LSH or her Dr. maybe was not as well trained as they needed to be. With *any* type of surgery..hyst or not..sadly...there can be a small % of patients that experience complications.

And we Hyster Sisters are all candidates for different types of hysts. My younger sister had a hyst a couple of years ago and as it turned out, she was not a good candidate for a LSH since she had prolapse. She had a TVH instead.

I would say just concentrate on your recovery and trust your Dr. that you and him/her made the best decision for you as far as a surgery type.

In post-op with us LSH ladies, we can look great on the outside and we are still healing on the inside. It can be very easy to over do it. Just make *no* your favorite word for awhile. If something seems like too much...it probably is.

Like all the other surgery types...we LSH ladies only have one chance to get our post-op recovery right. We Hyster Sisters all heal at different rates..no matter what the hyst type is..so just take the needed time your body needs to reccover.

Sending best wishes~

Mary
