bloat and pressure...

I feel Like I am just spiraling downhill, each day waiting for my surgery it seems my stomach expands more, I have to stuff pillows in my pants to stretch them to fit around my abdomen.. ya neighbor laughs says it look like I have people sitting around my apt. I refuse to by new clothes. Also the pressure feels like I'm gonna pop, I've lost my appetite.

Question: After surgery and healed can't I expect to have this stretch belly gone? Does the enlarged uterus cause me to look 4 months pregnant? I am just filling with more and more anxiety each day and depression, my primary put me on lexapro but it doesn't seem to help, my motivation is Nil... I just want Me Back!! I feel like such a hostage.

bloat and pressure...

vtigger, My surgery is scheduled the same day as your's...August 1. My ob/gyn told me that my uterus is the size of a 20 week pregnancy and I have 8 very large fibroids. I hope you get a reply on your question about the swelly belly. I would be disappointed that after the surgery and recovery I would end up looking bigger than I currently do. My pre-op appointment is tomorrow and I am going to ask my doctor about the swelly belly. This waiting for surgery is sheer agony. You are not alone when you talk about the anxiety....I nearly lost control today at work.

It is interesting that you mentioned how you have lost your appetite. I lost my appetite last year which led me to go to the doctor...which led to the discover of the fibroids.

Please try to hang in there. Our date is quickly approaching. Try to focus on how you will feel better after the surgery. Tell your neighbor to be quiet. If you want to talk more, please send me a private message.

You will have a poohy tummy after surgery. I looked about 4 months prego pre-op, now I'm 10 days post opt and I look about 5 months prego.

I have lost 6 lbs since pre-op. I feel a lot better, eventhough I'm healing.

When I was waiting for my surgery, I had such horrible cravings for sweets. I didn't want real food, only desserts. Now I'm just the opposite. I crave veggies, fruit, fish, eggs.

Take care and hang in there. I

You will have swelling at first, so don't expect to see much of a change for a few weeks. However, my uterus was only the size of a 10 week pregnancy, but I can already tell my stomach is smaller just 3 weeks out of surgery. I bet you will see a big difference and feel SO much better after a few weeks. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi VGtigger!
Sorry your having such a hard time. I remember how awful I felt before the surgery and the wait seems to last forever!
I had pretty bad "swelly belly" for about a month.. I still have it towards the end of the day when I am on my feet alot but as time goes by it gets less and less.
I remember before my surgery I felt like I was ready to give birth even though my stomach wasn't THAT large... I still had the abdomen of a 4-5 month pregnancy... so that felt huge to me.
Feel better!!
Sending you hugs.

bloat and pressure...

Hi VGtigger,

My surgery is scheduled for July 27th, and I have horrible bloating and pain as well. The only thing that sits well with my tummy is fruit or salad, and well, the fiber in these foods isn't helping with the bloating and gas.

I have found that my clothing is fitting snugly around the mid-section, but is fine everywhere else, so I know that it is the cysts and my enlarged uterus that are causing the problem.

The wonderful sisters are this site have provided me with a great tip.....purchase larger panties and comfy pants to wear during recovery, so that our swelly bellys have the extra room they need while we heal.

Good luck to you!

I saw doc today, told him about the pressure/bloat, and also Night sweats, and no appetite, he said sounds like the fibroids. 8/1 can't come soon enough! Anyways we went over all my questions, so I have a clear idea what to expect : abdominal surgery, cervix, uterus and tubes will go, he will try to save ovaries, with the removal of the cervix, they have to reconstruct ligaments to act a support to the pelvic floor (that is what the cervix usually does) also removal of fibroids and adhesions including on the bowel, hammock inserted to support euretha, (they do 2 small incision on thigh area, and vagina), Hernia repair, Oh Yeah!
