question about bowel prep

First ... i did half the bottle around 2, the other half around 6 just a few mins ago. So far ive gone about 4 times... but its no where near "clear" ... should it be? I do still feel gurgly, but no where near as much "action" as i was expecting from a bowel prep.

Ive drank about 2 glasses of water so far, trying to drink about a glass an hour. i have bad veins, and expect the IV to be unpleasant.

Also - is it ok to eat "clear liquids" still? i was only told no food/drink after midnight (surgery is 1pm tomorrow). even after starting the prep is it ok to do broth or jello (just not red)?

im going to be starving by tomorrow evening. i hope they dont make me wait to long to eat.

sorry so many questions. just nervous... hungry... and a little cranky. i tend to get cranky when im hungry.

Re: question about bowel prep

The doctor didn't say anything today about a bowel prep. Doesn't sound fun! You have really good questions that I didn't think about. Good luck to you tomorrow. My prayers are with you in hopes if a speedy recovery.

Rusty. I was told I can have liquids up until midnight even while doing the bowel prep. You need to stay hydrated for the IV

Re: question about bowel prep

I'm wondering about the bowel prep too. My dr said to take the mag citrate at 2, and nothing to eat or drink after 10. So I'm only guessing but it sounds like I can have a light dinner, like soup.

I'm a little worried tho. I forgot that the instructions said to eat lightly the "day" before surgery. I thought it said to eat a light dinner. So I had a hamburger for lunch and now I'm thinking that wasn't a good idea.

Did'nt your dr. say anything about using an enema? Mine did, I'm supposed to use it before I go to bed. I wonder if I should wait and use it in the morning instead. My surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Ack!

Re: question about bowel prep

liquids until midnight - jello, broth, tea, water, gatorade, etc. Just nothing that you can't see through.... I'm STARVING at this point!
Also, I'm not totally "clear" yet either. But getting pretty close.
Good luck!

Re: question about bowel prep

I had a liquid diet the day before. I would follow your instructions as it varies depending on Dr and procedure. I drank half a mag citrate at lunch and the other half at dinner. no food after midnight. I had to do an enema one hour before leaving for the castle. My surgery was a 1:00.
