Jewelry at hospital

Will they make me take off my wedding ring for surgery? Do I need to just leave it at home?

Re: Jewelry at hospital

I had to take mine off. I handed it to my dh, he placed it back on my finger as soon as I was in my room. In my doped up stupor I recall asking him to say "with this ring I thee wed." before he put it back on my finger.

Re: Jewelry at hospital

That's great. Gotta love a man who'd renew his vows " in sickness and health "

Re: Jewelry at hospital

Yes, you will need to remove all jewelry, including your wedding ring, for surgery. Also, be aware that there is *no* security in the hospital for your belongings. Don't bring large amounts of cash, credit cards or anything valuable.

Re: Jewelry at hospital

I forgot to take mine off and when they were prepping me for surgery I couldn't get it off. So they just put tape over it.

Re: Jewelry at hospital

I left mine all at home, but if you don't want to take off your wedding ring, they will tape it up. Hope all goes well x

Re: Jewelry at hospital

I will be leaving mine at home. Since I have a kidney disease, I know I will swell due to the iv. It was really bad last year after my gallbladder surgery.
