Pre Op Blues

Hi Ladies,
I had my pre op visit today. I had to have a pap with this visit too. My Dr said that she wanted me to have a pre op ultrasound in the morning. My surgery is Jan 19., and I fly out of town the next day, so this was not fun to sched. She says that since I have adenomyosis, and wanting to keep my overies, there was a chance that I would be disapointed. She said that everything felt quite enlarged in there, and that the untrasound would tell for sure if I needed to have my overies removed. I was counting on keeping them, but now it looks like they may be coming out. She talked about the patch after surgery to keep me from having the night sweats and hot flashes, and then she said that we would talk more about getting medication started after the post op visit. I am hoping to use herbal meds. Is there anyone out there with advice on the post op meds? and what to expect after surgery? I mean does the menapause hit you that fast? Thanks so much. Shawn

Pre Op Blues

Hey Shawn
I just came back to work today and also back on Hyster Sisters (out for 10 weeks) Had TAH and other goodies on 11/04/03. Trust me you will not go Hormonal once your ovaries are out. I made my final decision at the last minute to have my Ovaries removed and it was the best move Ive made so far. I only experienced 1 nasty Hot Flash and that happened shortly before the patch was applied after surgeryand wouldnt you know my darling MIL was there to witness ( Boy did she laugh!!!!!!). I really only felt weepie the first couple of weeks, but I think that was my body mourning the lost of my womanhood. Have patience and faith and just tell the DH should you feel the need to (pounce!!) to run and hide. It will truely be OK.....
