6 Days post hysterectomy, sensitive skin
I'm 6 days post op and decided to shampoo my hair. What I have noticed is that I have "burns" where the EKG leads were placed on my skin. Did this happen to anyone else? What is the remedy to help fade these marks? I'm already self conscious because of the incisions in my belly from the surgery.

Re: 6 Days post hysterectomy, sensitive skin
Hi LrJnz! While I didn't have burns from the EKG leads, I did have a TAP block done during surgery. It was done via ultrasound and left what looks like track marks about 1-2 inches long on the right side of my belly. I wasn't excited about this, since I already had the 5 lap incisions and bikini incision on top of it. I have been putting aloe on it, hoping that it will help it fade a bit. I'm not sure if the aloe has been helping it, but it has been about 9 months for me, and it has faded significantly where I barely notice it now. For you it could also be an allergic reaction to the adhesive on the EKG leads. You are pretty early in recovery. I think all you can really do is give it some time. It will fade and possibly go away completely on its own.
Best wishes for your continued recovery!

Hi! The EKG leads are just adhesive foam pads with a metal button in the middle. I'm also wondering if you're allergic to the adhesive.
I do know that with me at first I didn't have a mark on me, then these dark patches started showing up. Turns out they wete areas of adhesive that had been clear before but turned dark as they rubbed up against my clothes. Takes a while for the adhesive to wear off but when it came off the dark areas were gone. Hope it's the same for you.
