My God !! Its's getting closer!!

What can I say ladies, It is 3am and I just cannot sleep. My mind is in overdrive - ARAAGH !!!!!

I went for my pre op assessment today and came home with more questions than I went in with. The nurse practitioner was a darling, she was soooo nice. Had my blood taken AGAIN, I swear if they take any more I will be too anaemic to operate on. Had a resting ECG (Slight Heart Murmur). She asked if I was still sexually active, (I am only 49 for gods sake!!). She decided to bring me into hospital a day earlier so that I can settle into the ward and meet the anaesthetist. I am not too worried about the operation but so many things are going through my head, I feel I am going to explode. I know that when I have the anaesthetic I will be so sick, so asked if they could give me meds to stop that. Also was told that thay would prefer to cut me vertically instead of horiontally. (Don't know why, guess they don't imagine me in a bikini any more!!). I plan to let my family take over the running of the house for a few weeks - should be good for a laugh anyway!! Hubby has never done more than carry out the rubbish, he can't operate the washing machine or even write a cheque. I will have to give him a crash course in cookery and house maintainence this week. My eldest daughter will have to find another babysitter for a while and my youngest will have to learn that screaming MUM!!!! will not bring me running any more. Looking forward to the rest but not the stress it will bring. Has anyone else got any stories thay would like to share about how their pampered families have coped. Anyway, good luck to all of us, the other side is getting closer and closer Woopee!!!!!

Take care everyone, make it a positive experience.

Love Phyl xxxxxxxx

I know how you feel...

Yikes is it really coming that quick??? I have the opposite problem you have. I have a 5 and 6 year old and my DH lives out of the state. He is taking all of his vaction to come home and help me. But his cooking...Let's just say the garbage disposal wouldn't take it down last time, and every piece of white clothing I own is pink. Cest la vie. At least he tries. I have been having emotional surges and crying jags. Being by myself with 2 kids doesn't help either. I am just ready for all this misery to end. Here's wishing you a successful surgery and speedy recovery!

My God !! Its's getting closer!!

I just figured out how long it'll be before my surgery - and I'm beginning to have "racing brain" syndrome. I also go in for my pre-op testing tomorrow - so I'll know the results of that soon.

This is my 10th surgery - and the second surgery where I will need to rely on others to help clean, cook & week the garden.

The 1st time I had bones fused in my back - and had to have a hospital bed moved into our house for a month. I had to have help when I was home just to get in & out of bed to go to the bathroom.

Luckily my husband knows how to do laundry. I didn't care about whether the house got cleaned (and someone did do a little bit of house cleaning because it wasn't that bad when I was able to start cleaning). As for food - I had bought loads of frozen dinners - and made stuff in advance so all that needed to be done was heating or re-heating in the microwave.

Bottom line - my family "got by" - and were so appreciative of me when I was able to DO stuff again.

I hope all goes well with your surgery. Take care of yourself. Let others pamper you! Pamper yourself, too.

My God !! Its's getting closer!!

My DH really surprised me.He was so good and my kids really helped out too. Most of the time I'm doing everything around here.I was so worried nothing would get done, but hey guess what, we got by just fine.Sure there was a few dirty dishes from time to time and a few things that needed to be done.Nothing that couldn't wait awhile.Just relax and give your body the time is needs to heal right the first time, everything else can wait.Your house won't fall apart, really!Good luck sisters!
