Hysterectomy at 23 for endometriosis

I am 23 and was diagnosed with endo at 16. I have had 5 laparoscopies to remove it and adhesions also. I am having severe pain again and have already been on all hormone therapies with no luck. This has been controlling my life for too long and I am now seriously considering hysterectomy. I see my dr. on tues. and will discuss it with her. I am very scared and confused right now and was not sure where to go for help. I would like any advice from women who have had endo and had hysterectomy on what their experience has been, whether they are happy and what type of hysterectomy they have had. Or any advice in general on questions to ask the dr. on tues., also what is the general recovery time, how long do you stay in hospital, or any other tips any of you may have. Thank you so much for listening and any help is appreciated!!!P.S.-Women with endo who have had hyst., what is your advice on hormone therapy? I am very scared of having the endo come back even after hyst. and have heard hrt can trigger it. Thanks!

I've seen several posts recently from women in their 20's who were considering a hyst. Of course, the major consideration for many is not being able to have children. This is a major decision, and I'm glad you'll be talking over your options with your doctor.

You might want to post this topic on the main hyst support board, too, as many more women in your situation might see your post there.

As for hrt options, I'll ask a sister with more hrt background to help.
