Had Pre-op today

Had my pre-op appointment at 8:15 this morning, way to early to get up after stay up half the night watching the elections.


Doctor said I would have a least a 3 night stay in the hospital, I will have the pain pump, I have to do 2 enemas the day before the surgery, clear liquid diet after noon the day before surgery. I am to take the meds I take nightly with me to the hospital. He told me that they are taking everything and taking care of all scar tissues from previous surgery's.


Now just have to finish my list of things to do and I will be ready to go.

Your on the back stretch now and your day will be here soon. I am a week behind you and I can't wait. Did your doc say what you will be sent home with as far as pain management? Are you having a TAH? UUGGGHHH.....I have not heard yet what , if any, bowel prep I will have to do. Strange how some of the girls don't have to do any and then some get their bowels squeeky clean. He said they would regulate my pain with med after they take the pump away, but didn't say with what. I am having TAH/BSO, everything is going. Yeah I was hoping I wouldn't have to do bowl prep, not look forward to that.

I'm so worried that my Dr won't give me strong enough pain meds to go home with. I can't get her to give me anything now and I am in horrendous pain. She just says Motrin.....that's like candy to my uterus, it just laughs and gobbles it up!

My doctor has giving Tylenol 3 for pain right now. What dosage are you taking of the Motrin?

I am taking 800mg every 6 hours.......doesn't touch it. I would love some T3 right now. I may be able to get out of bed and actually get things done around the house before my surgery. I did have a pain free weekend and Halloween which was great.

I have my preop today at 2:30....bowel prep does NOT sound like fun. I am assuming they will give me the rundown today.

What else are you doing to prepare? I am afraid I am going to forget something.

I hear ya on the Motrin being like candy...I have been saying that about Aleve. Darvocet helps but is the ONLY pain med I can take. I am allergic to just about all the rest of them.

I have a list I start 6 weeks ago of what I wanted to get done before my surgery.
Clean House top to bottom
Shampoo carpets
Visit family members I won't get to see at Thanksgiving or Christmas
Stock food
Do all laundry
Animals to Vet

I could go on and on..LOL
I have only 3 things left on my list to do
Finish my bedroom (Recovery Room)
Buy alot of books.
Get husband ready..LOL

I had my pre-op on Tuesday for surgery on the same date as yours. I'm getting nervous as it gets closer but don't know what else to do to get ready. the house is as ready as it will be. The only thing I really want to do before next week is put up the Christmas decorations.

My bigger concern is my kids while I recover. My hubby off's for 2 weeks after but I am worried I wont be up to taking care of them all the time after that by myself.

Just saw our surgeries are on the same day so I thought I'd post!! Hang in there, I can't wait for this to be over!

My husband tried to get 2 weeks off for my surgery and recovery but work is so slow right now that they are closing down a week for Thanksgiving and Christmas so he has to use his vacation time for that. He did manage to get 3 days off for the surgery. My son will be able to help after school and I have a couple of friends who are going to come over and help out when they can. I think I will be alright. Like you can't wait till this is all over. Sending good thoughts your way.
