LAVH 4 days post hysterectomy: Nervous for car ride tomorrow.

Tomorrow my daughter has a music contest (her first) that is about an hour away from home. I am planning to go for at least the morning part. But, only being 4 days post-op I'm nervous about the extended car ride and movement. Any suggestions?? PS: I am not driving, my husband is.

I'd premedicate and bring pillows. I can't bare the discomfort of sitting upright for more than 10 min maybe 15, then causes full deep pain. How are you now when sitting upright? Is it comfortable for you?

I'm like you. Ok for brief periods of sitting upright. I've been taking prescriptions ibuprofen and norco but trying to avoid the norco because of the negative bowel effects. That, and it knocks me out. I think I will take it and try to sleep on the way.
I expected frustration with not being able to do what I've always done, but can't bear the thought of missing my kids' activities
I'm also nervous about the location and whether there will be stairs, etc....

I don't know what type of surgery/incision you had, but I had an abdominal and for me, the first couple of weeks, I was more comfortable in the back seat, with my body slightly angled, so I could lean back against a pillow. I also sat on a small pillow, which helped absorb some of the bumps along the road. Enjoy the contest!

I had a LAVH. The back seat and angled is a good idea. I will try that. I was planning on a tummy pillow but one for the seat might be a good plan too! Thank you for the tips!
