Drinking Go-Lytely and it hasn't worked yet...

Started drinking the mixture at noon (40 min ago). Am 42oz. in and haven't even felt a nudge yet. I thought it worked instantly!?!? Anyone else use this instead of magnesium? I'm worried I did something wrong!

Re: Drinking Go-Lytely and it hasn't worked yet...

Hi there--had this when I had my colonscopy. Be close by the bathroom because it will hit you all at once and you have a few seconds to get to the toilet. My brother did the prep about three weeks ago. I think he had finished about 80 percent of it when it hit him. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow!

Oh it will hit. Count on finishing it within 2 hrs total----if you drag it out over a long time it doesn't work as well, the GI nurse told me. I didn't think it would ever kick it, it took a couple hrs, I even called the consulting nurse. When it hits-----you'll know it. Just take the laptop with you, the bathrm will see you a lot. Good luck.

Re: Drinking Go-Lytely and it hasn't worked yet...

I just started Half-Lytely. Is that similar to Go-Lytely?

With Half-Lytely, I had to take 2 pills for at noon, and then after a BM start drinking 8 ounces every 10 minutes. I just started the Half-Lytely 5 minutes ago. It wasn't as bad-tasting as I expected. So far......

They are both very similar to each other. It is just a lesser amount I think with the half Lytely. Believe me, they will work. The first time I did it I was worried until about the third or fourth glass when it suddenly started working. I know for me using broth in between helped me to tolerate the whole thing. Sending hugs and best wishes for both of you.

Re: Drinking Go-Lytely and it hasn't worked yet...

My DH just did the Go- Lytely on the 9th for a colonoscopy and by the time he was down to the last few glasses, he was having to drink them while in the bathroom! OH Man it was funny until I found out I may have to do it soon.. Thats what I get for laughing at him ( or with him however you look at it!)
